The Wavlink WN701AE is a 5-port Gigabit PoE switch with a built-in access controller and router functions. Its four Gigabit LAN ports supply IEEE 802.3af/at PoE to compatible access points and devices, and a Gigabit WAN port connects to your main router or switch. It automatically finds and configures compatible Wavlink APs for seamless roaming and central management of up to 30 APs and about 128 client devices.

Setting up several access points one by one is slow, and keeping their settings consistent across a building is harder still. The Wavlink WN701AE automatically discovers compatible Wavlink APs and manages them from one browser-based interface, so APs work plug and play while you handle status monitoring, firmware upgrades and scheduled restarts centrally. PoE on every LAN port powers the APs over the network cable, removing the need for separate power points. You can also create department or guest-only networks, a captive portal and switch AP LEDs off where light is unwanted.
Who is the Wavlink WN701AE for?
This controller suits small and medium businesses, hotels, villas, apartments, farms and offices that need WiFi coverage across a larger area. In a typical Wavlink WN701AE setup, connect the power adapter, run the WAN port to a LAN port on your main router or switch, and plug compatible Wavlink access points or outdoor routers into the PoE LAN ports. Log in at http://wavlogin.link or 192.168.10.1 to manage the network. To run more APs, add an 802.3af/at PoE switch after the controller, up to 30 APs in total.
Wavlink WN701AE key features
- Gigabit PoE ports: One Gigabit WAN and four Gigabit LAN ports support 10/100/1000Mbps. All LAN ports provide active PoE compliant with IEEE 802.3af/at, so connected devices must support that standard to receive power.
- Built-in AC controller: Automatically discovers and configures compatible Wavlink APs for zero-configuration access, seamless roaming and centralised management of up to 30 APs and around 128 client devices.
- Custom and guest WiFi: Create dedicated WiFi networks for different departments or groups and separate guest-only networks, with a captive portal so guests sign in using their own credentials.
- Router features: Supports DDNS and port forwarding for internal servers, UPnP for NAT traversal and IPTV data transmission, combining routing, PoE and AP control in one device.
- Easy maintenance: Monitor AP status, upgrade firmware and schedule restarts from the browser interface. Automatic cache cleaning during off-peak hours helps keep the system stable.
- AP LED control: Turn the LED lights on connected APs on or off, which is handy in hotel rooms, bedrooms and other spaces where you want minimal light.

Wavlink WN701AE FAQs
Which access points work with the Wavlink WN701AE?
It only works with Wavlink AP models, including the WN570HN2-B, WN570HP2-B, WN570HA1-B, WN570HA2-A, WN572HP3-B, WN573HX1-B, WN573HX3, WN573HP3, WN588HA2, WN588HX3 and WN557X3. Other brands of access point are not supported for management.
How many APs can the Wavlink WN701AE manage?
Up to 30 APs and about 128 terminal devices. The controller has four PoE LAN ports, so to run more APs add a switch supporting 802.3af/at PoE behind the controller, or use APs with their own PoE power.
How do I log in to the controller?
Connect a computer to the controller, set it to obtain an IP address automatically, then browse to http://wavlogin.link or the default IP 192.168.10.1. If you forget the username and password, hold the Reset button for six seconds to restore defaults.
Will the PoE ports power any device?
Only devices that support the IEEE 802.3af or 802.3at PoE standard will receive power from the LAN ports. Other wired devices, such as PCs and laptops, can still connect for data at up to 1000Mbps.
