How to replace the canon 1pl printhead

Start the printhead replacement routine from the printer’s front panel or maintenance menu, so the carriage moves to the access position.
Open the cover, release the printhead latch and lift out the old printhead.
Unpack the new printhead and remove the protective caps and tape. Do not touch the nozzles or the electrical contacts.
Insert it firmly, close the latch and cover, and let the printer run its printhead check and alignment.

Storage and handling

Keep a spare printhead sealed in its original packaging until you are ready to fit it, and install it soon after opening. Store it at room temperature away from direct sunlight, and handle it by the sides only.

Keeping print quality high

Run a printhead alignment after fitting a new printhead and whenever lines look uneven. Keep the ink cartridges installed and the printer switched on (or in standby) so it can run its automatic maintenance routines.
